Coffee Dry Rub Recipe

Coffee Dry Rub Recipe

This rub is sweet, smoky, spicy and packed with coffee flavor. This will be your favorite spice rub for steaks, chicken, lamb and burgers!

Making your own dry rub is so much fresher that the store bought varieties. I remember buying a similar, expensive rub like this years ago and decided that we could kill this combination ourselves, and the best thing is that you don't have to be a coffee lover to enjoy this recipe! Our Peruvian Single Origin is great in this in this but any medium roast can be good too.

Ingredients

1/2 cup of Dark Horse Peruvian Single Origin Beans

1/3 cup of light brown sugar

1 teaspoon of Pink Himalayan Salt or Hawaiian Salt (whichever you prefer)

2 teaspoons of flaky sea salt

2 teaspoons of smoked paprika

1 teaspoon of freshly ground black pepper

1 teaspoon of garlic powder

1/4 - 1/2 teaspoon of cayenne pepper (depending on how spicy you like it)

The Method

Using a coffee grinder that you mostly use for spices, grind the coffee beans into a slightly coarse grind - not super fine. You can also just use a standard ground coffee. Just stay away from espresso grinds.

Add the brown sugar, Himalayan Pink Salt or Hawaiian Salt, Sea salt, Smoked Paprika, ground black pepper, garlic powder and cayenne pepper.

Pulse a few times to combine.

Store in an airtight container.

Enjoy!
