How to Make Affogato At Home

One of our favorite, indulgent desserts an affogato ticks all the boxes for delicious and satisfying. Also, its probably one of the easiest things to make so it gets bonus points for busy people who want to treat themselves. 

You'll need 1 to 2 scoops of the best vanilla gelato you can find and a shot of brewed espresso. However, vanilla ice cream and a strongly brewed coffee will also do the trick. 

Scoop the gelato into a clear glass and then pour the espresso over the cold gelato. When the espresso hits the ice cream...magic happens. It will start to melt the cream and give you a thick, delicious foam of coffee and ice cream. You can also use cold coffee for hot summers. If you do that just change the name to Eiskaffee. By any name it's just as sweet.

Want to amp it up? Try these suggestions:

  • Use a different flavor of gelato. Chocolate or Salted Caramel are great alternatives.
  • Add a nut liquor for a boozy affogato
